What is PCOS?
PCOS is a condition in which a woman’s ovaries and, in some
cases the adrenal glands, produce more androgens (a type of hormone) than
normal. High levels of these hormones interfere with the development and
release of eggs as part of ovulation. As a result, fluid-filled sacs or cysts
can develop on the ovaries.
Because women with PCOS do not release eggs during ovulation, PCOS is the
most common cause of female infertility.
How does PCOS affect fertility?
A woman's ovaries have follicles, which are
tiny, fluid-filled sacs that hold the eggs. When an egg is mature, the follicle
breaks open to release the egg so it can travel to the uterus for fertilization.
In women with PCOS, immature follicles bunch together to form large cysts or
lumps. The eggs mature within the bunched follicles, but the follicles don't
break open to release them.
As a result, women with PCOS often have menstrual irregularities, such as amenorrhea (they don’t get menstrual periods) or oligomenorrhea (they only have periods now and then). Because the eggs are not released, most women with PCOS have trouble getting pregnant.

What are the symptoms of PCOS?
In addition to infertility, women with PCOS may also have:
Although it is hard for women with PCOS to get pregnant, some do get pregnant, naturally or using assistive reproductive technology. Women with PCOS are at higher risk for miscarriage if they do become pregnant.
Women with PCOS are also at higher risk for associated conditions, such as:
- Pelvic pain
- Hirsutism, or excess hair growth on the face, chest, stomach, thumbs, or toes
- Male-pattern baldness or thinning hair
- Acne, oily skin, or dandruff
- Patches of thickened and dark brown or black skin

Women with PCOS are also at higher risk for associated conditions, such as:
- Diabetes
- Metabolic syndrome—sometimes called a precursor to diabetes, this syndrome indicates that the body has trouble regulating its insulin
- Cardiovascular disease—including heart disease and high blood pressure
What is the treatment for PCOS?
There is no cure for PCOS, but many of the symptoms can
often be managed. It is important to have PCOS diagnosed and treated early to
help prevent associated problems.
There are medications that can help control the symptoms, such as birth
control pills to regulate menstruation, reduce androgen levels, and clear acne.
Other medications can reduce cosmetic problems, such as hair growth, and control
blood pressure and cholesterol.
Lifestyle changes such as regular exercise can aid weight loss and help reduce blood sugar levels and regulate insulin levels more effectively. Weight loss can help lessen many of the health conditions associated with PCOS and can make symptoms be less severe or even disappear.
Surgical treatment may also be an option, but it is not recommended as the first course of treatment.
NICHD-funded research has also examined the effects of the anti-diabetes drug metformin on fertility in women with PCOS. To learn more about this research, check out the news releases about PCOS.

How is PCOS diagnosed?
Your health care provider will take a medical history and do
a pelvic exam to feel for cysts on your ovaries. He or she may also do a
vaginal ultrasound and recommend blood tests to measure hormone levels.
Other tests may include measuring levels of insulin, glucose, cholesterol,
and triglycerides.

How i got a cure for PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome).
ReplyDeleteI actually promised myself that i will do this because i never in life thought i would be cured of PCOS because my gynecologist told me there was no cure and because of this i could not take in and get pregnant. I had PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) for 7 years and this was a big pain to me and my husband due to the downcast we felt for not having a child. I experienced irregular periods or no periods at all sometimes, heavy periods, i gained weight (fat). I seeked a cure from one doctor to the other used androgen, clomiphene, metformin and even travelled to different states to see other doctors to no avail. My husband got to know about Dr. ALeta via a testimony he read on the internet on how a woman got a cure and he contacted her with the contact she left. I got the herbal medication and used it for the speculated 3 months that was all i have a son who is just 8 months old. Do not give up just contact her on (aletedwin@gmail.com) on how to get the herbal medication. Thanks and i wish you get cured soon too.
You shared the incredible post. Loves it. Now if anyone know more about the Test Tube Baby procedure the easily click on the given link and read our full post.
ReplyDeleteI have been following this blog for a while now and today i felt like i should share my story because i was a victim too. I had endometriosis for 18 years and i never thought i would ever get a cure due to the terrible symptoms i had and this made it impossible for me to get pregnant even after 12 years of marriage and it was a serious issue. I got to know about Dr. Aleta who treated someone and the person shared a story of how she got a cure and let her contact details, i contacted Dr. Aleta and she actually confirmed it and i decided to give a try too and use her herbal medicine that was how my burden ended completely. My son will be 2 this december and i am grateful to God and thankful to her for medicine too. If you have (Endometriosis, PCOS, Fibroid, Ovarian cyst, Ectopic Pregnancy or any infertility issues) just reach her on (aletedwin @ gmail. com) she has professional advise and a cure too.
ReplyDeleteI first had symptoms when i was 17 and was told that i had PCOS (thin people type PCOS) and was officially diagnosed at 22 ans now i am 35. I have always had regular periods and unless on birth control pills were they irregular at times and I had a hard time getting pregnant because of the absent periods. I was always told by doctors that I would have a hard time conceiving so I would only go on the pill periodically which i did for more than 4 years, not for protection against getting pregnant, but just to get a period (since I was told it's not healthy to have less than 4 or so periods a year). Last time I went on a 3 month birth control pill and then stopped again because the medicine was not curing my pcos nor making me get pregnant. I went in search for a cure and ended up with so many drugs, medicine and even soaps that didn't work. I actually thought at a point that i was cursed that there is no cure for it, i was prepared to live like that till i read a testimony of a patient who suffered from pcos whose case was even worse than mine and how she was cured completely, I was amazed and at thesame time anxious and curious so i had to contact the doctor with the contact details that she left on the note. The doctor gave me so much hope and confidence with her kind words of encouragement to believe in myself and i was lifted because no one has ever given me hope like that before. I ordered the medicine, took it for 8 weeks and to my complete surprise, all the facial hairs, weight gain and all disappeared within 4 weeks and I ended up getting pregnant within a few weeks of completing the treatment! I was in shock. I think the main reasons it happened was that I never gave up and was ready to try alternative treatment so my body was back to normal. Before now i never enjoyed sex because it was very painful but now i do and my husband is the best thing that ever happened to me.. I hope this inspires some of you because I never in a million years would have thought that I would get pregnant and was getting frustrated and now our baby is due next month! You too can reach her on [aletedwin@gmail.com] for more information, advise and also how to place an order for yours.
